End Your Constant Struggle With Diets and Heal Your Overweight Permanently and Non-Violently
You've been dieting on and off for years. You start losing weight, but then you stop as your body gets used to the fewer calories. Pretty soon you're eating practically nothing, struggling every day to stop your cravings, and feeling too tired to keep up with the heinous exercise regimen you've given yourself.I discovered how to stop the struggle and lose weight without forcing any kind of awful diet or exercise down my throat.
I still eat chocolate chips for breakfast. I don't exercise any more than I ever did: I walk to the store, to the library, and to the park every few days. I hardly ever break a sweat. And yet I lost 45 pounds over the course of a year, without any struggle, and it has never come back. I am comfortable in my clothes, happy in my skin, and my stomach is flat enough to wear mini skirts. Best of all I never even think about calories, target heart rates, or any other awful thing I used to force on myself. The answer is not another diet.
Our bodies adjust to the amount of food we give them. If we eat fewer and fewer calories, our bodies will learn to adapt and survive on fewer calories. So we "plateau".Our bodies think in terms of survival. If you give your body less food, it thinks times are lean. It adjusts to compensate by getting more efficient. Every dieter experiences this frustrating response by our body. The truth is we just can't force ourselves to lose weight without herculean effort. The body resists this kind of effort every time.
The answer is not more exercise either.
The solution often given to this is to exercise more. But our bodies plateau on exercise too. This is simply because our bodies are built to adapt. No matter what conditions we are under, our bodies will try as hard as possible to maintain equilibrium. That is why so many people gain back weight as soon as they stop exercising. Our body has a natural ability to keep a steady weight.
If you look at our closest animal relatives, chimpanzees, you'll notice two things.
First, there aren't any overweight chimps.
Second, they do not exercise for 30 minutes each day. They don't count calories either. And yet, they manage to maintain a healthy body weight without any struggle. They eat when they are hungry and stop when they are full. Their bodies have a blueprint for their healthy weight and it adjusts to keep them there.
Our bodies have a natural homeostatis mechanism that seeks to correct to the blueprint in our DNA. That means that your healthy weight is hard-coded into your body. Your body wants to keep that weight.
There is a reason why your body put on weight. It's not just a random bad thing that happened to you.
Sometimes the mechanism that keeps us at our perfect weight gets jammed and our body starts putting on weight. This is never random. It is always in response to a stressor of some kind.
Most stubborn weight gain is the result of a deep need in your body that you are not listening to or not honoring.
Stressors that can lead to weight gain include:- Boredom (a form of negative stress)
- Grief that you haven't allowed yourself to feel
- A situation you are putting up with that you don't really want to
- Abuse, such as being called names, being teased, and verbally or physically attacked
- Neglect, such as not getting the love, nourishment, acceptance, and support you need
- Core wounds and childhood trauma
- Core negative beliefs such as "I don't deserve love", "I'm not good enough" or "I'm too much"
By healing these wounds or addressing these issues, our body releases the root cause of the weight gain, and re-establishes our natural weight.
Your body doesn't want to be fat. There is coded into your DNA a healthy weight that your body wants to reach. Since it wants to reach that, it will do so if you release the wounds and fear that are the reason your body added weight. These three truths are the key to unlocking your natural weight loss:
- There is no such thing as a naturally fat person.
- Your body wants to heal.
- You have the answers to that healing inside you.
If you are truly ready to get off the rat wheel of dieting and binging, forced exercise, and self-hatred, this book is for you.
My book explains:- How to stop binge eating for good.
- How to make friends with your body and stop treating it like an enemy.
- How to find what truly nourishes you, so you no longer need to overeat.
